Wait! I hope you weren’t about to do one of these 3 things. Indeed, there are a few things that superheroes should absolutely never do and, provided that you aspire to become one (or maybe that you’ve already started your super career), you really shouldn’t do them either. So, in this article, I present to you these 3 things, which I managed to identify during my time as a professional superhero and living legend.
1. Don’t go through buildings
This is a mistake I see a lot of newly licensed superheroes do. If you are in a hurry and there is a building standing in your way, please, for superman’s sake, don’t go through it. Instead, go around it. Because here is the thing: if you charge or fly through a building, piercing through walls as you do so, you will effectively cause a lot of damage to your surrounding and cost money to society. Not only that, but you will effectively be putting people around you in danger. Therefore, even if you are chasing a supervillain and that going right through buildings would make for a good shortcut, just don’t. It’s almost never worth it.
2. Don’t fly too close to planes
This one is for the flyers out there: you should try to avoid flying too close to planes as much as possible. At the very least, stay away from the engines. The reason is that your cape may accidentally get stuck in the blades of the fan, which would result in you being grabbed towards them. This means you could very well hurt yourself if you don’t pay attention. Stay away from planes.
3. Don’t overlook your fanbase
A common misunderstanding is that superheroes can’t dedicate time to their fans. Of course, you do not have to be actively interacting with your fanbase, but be extra careful when doing or saying anything in front of it. As a superhero, your image is pristine and extremely fragile. Therefore, if you are being disdainful, even by mistake, you might suffer from a powerful affliction that even a mighty being like me would be weak against: the “shitstorm”. So yeah, always smile at the crowd.
Remember these don’ts
There you go, here are the 3 things that I consider to be the most harmful for any superhero, whether aspiring, new, or old. Don’t hesitate to share these tips with a superhero friend who might not be aware of them. And as always, feel free to follow me on social media, or reach out to me in case you have any suggestions about the topic, or simply to manifest your support towards the work. Peace!
